Our Story
Peggy’s Childcare was born from a deep passion for nurturing children and building strong foundations for their futures. Our founder, Peggy Pickering, began her journey in childcare back in 1978, caring for children right in her own home. What started as a personal calling slowly grew into a dream that would one day become a full childcare center.
In 1997, Peggy officially registered the company name. Then, in 2000, she and her husband James purchased the property at 2118 E. 13th St. in Deer Park, making Peggy’s Childcare the first commercial building on that side of town. After two years of planning and construction, our center officially opened its doors on March 18, 2002.
Angelica Wolfe joined our team during the building process in 2001. She brought with her years of experience in childcare, a degree in Early Childhood Education, a Director’s License, and certification as a Curriculum Specialist. Together, Peggy and Angelica turned their shared vision into reality.
From day one, our community showed us overwhelming support. Families lined up to register their children even before our doors officially opened, and within just six months, we were full with a waiting list. Over the past 24 plus years, our journey has included its share of challenges, but every one of them has strengthened our program, deepened our relationships with families, and reinforced our commitment to excellence.

With 35 years in early childhood education, a degree in the field, a Director’s License, and a Curriculum Specialist certification, Angelica brings deep expertise and a genuine passion for helping children build emotional and cognitive strength. Both of her own children attended Peggy’s Childcare, giving her a personal understanding of the difference a quality program can make in a child’s life.
Our teachers bring a wide range of experience, degrees, and ongoing training to our classrooms. Many started here with little to no experience and grew into confident, skilled educators under the guidance of our long-term staff.
